If you want your website accessible for everyone, it needs to be hosted on a computer(server) that is permanently connected to the Internet. This is what a Hosting company provides. Normally your website is shared with a lot of other sites on one server. This way the costs are low. If you need more protection you might want to consider a dedicated server.
